The Institution of Engineering Designers is calling for nominations for its annual awards.
The Geoff Kirk Young Members Award was introduced in 2011 by Professor Geoff Kirk to mark his time as President of the Institution. The aim of the award is to recognise up-and-coming young members of the Institution, to highlight their career to date and to promote the future of engineering to the wider membership. The award is open to IED members only and requires the completion of a nomination form.
The Promotion of Design Award was introduced in 2009 to award an individual or team for their work in promoting engineering design to a wider audience. The award can be presented to any individual or group that works to promote the excellence of design to the wider community – via local projects, national events, TV, radio shows or social media. Nominees do not have to be a member of the IED or linked to the Institution in any way.
Named after Dr Alex Moulton, Honorary Fellow of the Institution and designer of worldwide acclaim, the Alex Moulton Award was introduced to acknowledge innovation and inspirational design. The award is presented to the designer of a particularly well-designed product, system or app.
The winner of the ‘Inspire, Support and Achieve’ Award receives the Gerald Frewer Memorial Trophy. The trophy is presented for outstanding contributions in the fields of engineering design, design management, education and training, or design philosophy. The award recognises individuals or teams who have made a significant difference to the design community – whether in education, industry, research, public perception or leadership.
If you know of someone who should be celebrated, thanked, acknowledged or promoted through the presentation of one of these awards, email the name of the award, the nominee and a few lines about why they should receive the award to [email protected].
The deadline for nominations is Friday 25 March 2022.
