The British Standards Institution has announced that it’s putting on a free webinar on BS 8888:2025, the UK’s framework standard for technical product specification and documentation.
If you design, specify, manufacture or interpret engineering drawings, you know how costly ambiguity can be. Misinterpretation leads to rework, delays, disputes and quality issues – often long after the design was signed off.
According to BSI, the expert‑led webinar, entitled A New Era in Product Specification: What’s New in BS 8888:2025, will help attendees understand how BS 8888 supports clear, unambiguous technical communication, so that their specifications can be interpreted consistently, correctly and internationally.
BS 8888 brings together ISO GPS standards to ensure engineering specifications are complete, precise and unambiguous. However, applying BS 8888 in practice isn’t always straightforward.
This webinar is designed to help attendees remove uncertainty from mechanical specification; reduce the risk of misinterpretation between design, manufacture and inspection; align documentation with recognised best practice; improve consistency across teams, suppliers and global partners; and gain clarity on what BS 8888 is really asking them to do, and how to do it confidently.
Speakers will include Iain Macleod, managing director of Iain Macleod Associates; Edis Loveless, R&D team lead – mechanical at ABB; Nasir Ilyas, technical trainer and BS8888/ISO GPS expert at Iain Macleod Associates; Nigel Garwood, professional accreditation lead at the University of Bournemouth; and Ruth Lewendon, a senior specialist, manufacturing engineering at L3Harris.
The webinar will take place on Friday 8 May between 10am and 11.30am. You can register for the event here.
