The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is now welcoming nominations for the 2026 edition of the SocEnv Awards.
Recognising outstanding individuals who have innovated, inspired and have gone beyond what’s expected in their most recent work to protect, preserve, or enhance the environment, there are two awards up for grabs: 2026 Environmental Professional of the Year and 2026 Rising Star.
According to the society, the awards offer an opportunity to inspire future generations, acknowledge the expertise of your peers and remind each other of our shared mission to make a positive impact on the environment every day.
Last year, in 2025, two Chartered Environmentalists were honoured as Environmental Professional of the Year: Robbie Epsom CEnv and Lukas Howell CEnv.
Reflecting on his win, Luke said: ‘I’m genuinely thrilled to have won the prestigious Environmental Professional of the Year accolade. As someone who took a slightly unusual route professionally – I dropped out of college and didn’t go to university – receiving recognition from SocEnv and my peers is something I am extremely proud of.’
‘It’s an honour to be acknowledged by the very body that supports and validates my professional journey,’ Robbie said. ‘It reinforces the value of the rigorous path to chartership and the standards we uphold. While individual recognition is appreciated, any achievement in sustainability is fundamentally a collaborative effort. Thank you again for this recognition, for the reinforcement and thank you for this motivational boost to keep pushing forward.’
‘I’m proud to tell anyone who’ll listen that I have won the award. So people have a point of comparison, I liken it to a Chartered Accountant winning an award for Accountant of the Year, which I find helps people to understand how important it is,’ said 2024 Environmental Professional of the Year, Adrian Mill CEnv. ‘It already has resulted in me being invited to speak in more conferences, which by consequence helps to raise the profile of my companies as well as the environmental causes that I am passionate about.’
SocEnv is committed to being an inclusive organisation and this year it’s accepting video nominations in order to make its application process more accessible to a wider range of professionals. The SocEnv Awards page has more details on video nominations.
Nominees for both awards must be registered as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) or Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech). However, nominations can be submitted by anyone, including self-nominations.
Visit the SocEnv Awards page to download the guidelines, find out further details, and to learn more about the previous awards winners.

Nominations are open until Friday 10 April.
