Autodesk has announced that submissions are now open for its Design & Make Awards.
An annual event that honours innovators that have used Autodesk’s software to transform their industries and make a lasting impact on the world, the awards (formerly known as the Autodesk Excellence Awards) are hosted at Autodesk University in Las Vegas.
Previous winners have included projects from around the globe, including the world’s first open-source, configurable autonomous vehicle; the complex construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum; and an immersive video game that uses real-time cinematics to bring its characters to life (pictured above).
Three categories of awards will be presented to companies from the areas of architecture, engineering and construction; product design and manufacturing; and media and entertainment. The categories are: Innovator of the Year (inspiring companies or individuals exploring bold opportunities with technology to make significant contributions to their industries); Accelerating Transformation (companies using data, collaboration and automation technologies to improve efficiency and fuel business growth); and Making a Better World (companies whose innovative solutions are addressing the world’s most pressing social and environmental challenges). There are also six industry-specific categories
The winners will be selected by a panel of Autodesk leaders and internal industry experts. The panel will take into consideration: the use of Autodesk solutions, innovative processes and emerging technologies; specific, quantifiable results that demonstrate the success that the company/customer has achieved with Autodesk solutions; and the project’s impact to the industry as a whole.
The deadline for submission is 12 July. Entry is free. Winners will be notified by email on 14 August and announced at the awards ceremony on 13–15 November.
